About Periyar National Park
Nestled in the Western Ghats of Kerala, Periyar National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for its serene Periyar Lake, created by the Mullaperiyar Dam, and the vast Periyar Tiger Reserve. Spread over 925 sq km, it is a haven for elephants, tigers, and exotic bird species.
Unlike many Indian parks that are mainly for jeep safaris, Periyar is unique for its boat cruises on Periyar Lake, offering breathtaking views of elephants bathing on the shores, herds of gaurs grazing, and birds gliding across the water.
