About Kanha National Park
Kanha National Park, located in Madhya Pradesh, is one of the largest and most beautiful tiger reserves in India, covering 940 sq km of core area and over 1,000 sq km of buffer zone. Established in 1955, it became part of Project Tiger in 1973.
Kanha is often described as the inspiration for Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book”, with its lush sal and bamboo forests, meadows, and rivers. It is home to the Barasingha (Swamp Deer) – which was brought back from the brink of extinction here – making it the symbol of Kanha.

- Sarhi Zone – Less crowded, birdwatcher’s paradise
Best Time to Visit
October – June → Park open for visitors
November – February → Pleasant weather, great for birding & photography
March – May → Hot, but best time for tiger sightings
Monsoon (July – September) → Park remains closed
